What does it mean to be holy? I've known about this word for the majority of my life. Without looking at any readings or a dictionary, the definition I have for the word holy is:
to be your best self, hold yourself to a high standard, being a good girl.
In my bible, it says that "Holiness is God's awesome trait". "His holiness means he's completely pure and without fault"
Definition from Oxford Languages:
Holy
adjective.
Dedicated or consecrated to God or a religious purpose; sacred.
So with all this combined. I see it as when you dedicate yourself to God, a power that is pure, you hold yourself to a high standard that allows you to be your best self.
I know when I walk in holiness. I have a heart full of gratitude, I respect myself and others, and I pray. Opposed to not walking in holiness which is me judging everything and everyone and having a heart full of resentment and hate.
Obviously walking in holiness sounds like the better choice. But how do I make sure I do that? How does one connect with such great power?
I am going to find out by following the 21/90 rule. Which says it takes 21 days to form a habit and 90 days to make it a part of your lifestyle. Today is day 1. And writing things down is a great way to keep track and make observations.
How did this start?
One thing about God is that he will always answer your prayers. And you're not going to know when until you live in it.
I was praying for God to help me to stand firm in the identity I have in Christ. I repented because I have been easily moved by the harsh wind that is negativity. Stepping into this new chapter in my life that is dorming at college, I knew I needed to be strong and steadfast. I am tired of allowing negative circumstances to make my heart cold and my mind weary.
This morning, I opened up my prayer book and opened "Walking in Holiness". It gave me a scripture for the prayer and after I went into my bible. Honestly, I was a bit overwhelmed. Amongst all the words, where do I start? But I take a deep breath and pray. It is all about training your mindset. By instilling holy behavior. By having polite manners with strangers. Thanking God for the day. And doing much more I have yet to discover and read about.
Let's go to Day 1!
